Purpose
One of the first signs of aging is the appearance of periorbital wrinkles (in the lateral area around the eyes, known as “crow’s feet”) and forehead wrinkles.
Injectable treatment with botulinum toxin (Botox, Dysport) significantly improves their appearance.
Treatment and Procedures
Treatment with botulinum toxin has two major disadvantages:
- The effect lasts for a relatively short period (muscle paralysis lasts on average 3 months, occasionally up to 6 months)
- The high cost of the substance
Additionally, some patients may develop non-reactivity to botulinum toxin after multiple treatments.
An effective and long-lasting alternative is myomectomy (partial excision of the orbicularis oculi muscle for periorbital wrinkles or the frontal muscle for forehead wrinkles). This procedure can be combined with:
- Facelift
- Blepharoplasty (cosmetic eyelid surgery)
Results
The results are very good and long-lasting, providing a rejuvenated and rested appearance of the face and patient satisfaction.
